As scheduled, 30 of us assembled at the beautiful Pestana Vintage hotel, Porto, for one night with a grand opening dinner at Restaurant Vinum.  Then on to the coach for the drive up to Pinhão and a three night stay at the spectacular Quinta da Pacheca hotel and a programme of winery visits where the delights of Port and other Portuguese wines quickly beguiled most of our party in a series of carefully selected venues. All too soon it was time for a day long cruise and lunch on the magical Douro Valley, another splendid dinner then back to a rather gloomy London in full General Election mode..

Our tour was very efficiently led by Patrick and Ann Chapman - to whom very many thanks - who bravely took over after organisers Nic Birtles and wife Roseline had to withdraw due to health issues. A big thank you was offered to the four of them for their hard work in making the tour such a success and speedy recovery wishes to Nic.
